Does anybody other than me find it interesting that the most important financial decision you will probably ever make is the one that you know the absolute least about? Hmmmm, maybe that is why you have to sign all these papers that say you believe that your realtor and mortgage broker are acting in your best interest, because I think that they are. Our realtor has been nothing but WONDERFUL and I am thankful for the hard work she has been putting in on our behalf. Not to mention the fact that she is a believer and it's nice (biblically compelling as well) to work with the Body of Christ. Sarah and I have been running around like crazy, trying to fax this here and that there, sign this here and date it, get this information about such and such, and make a decision about this and if you mess up, there is a possibility that it could cost you thousands. That seems a little crazy, but we just have to do that to make an OFFER on the house, not actually buy it. I can't wait until the day we close on it, should be interesting (if it all works out). Anyhoo, if you plan to buy a house in the future, start making friends with a mortgage broker (if you're not related to one) so that they can help explain things, cuz it gets a bit confusing. My uncle is a mortgage broker and he gave me a 30 minute lesson over the phone today, and man, it was helpful. Just something to think about. AND if you ever start looking at purchasing a house, you may go ahead and ask your realtor to give you a copy of all the paper work that you will eventually fill out. Sarah and I would like to have been a little bit more acquainted with all the forms and whatnot. I am not saying that our real estate agent or mortgage broker is doing a bad job. In fact, I bet they are ready to work with someone who knows what they are talking about. What I am saying is take some initiative to prepare yourself for the most important financial decision you will ever make, it will pay off big time (and I mean it will pay off monetarily and it will lower your stress level).

First of all, I love the "Long for Loui" closing...awesome!!
Second, I can only imagine how crazy it is this week, because Eron and I REALLY understand ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about all of this. But I can assure you that you will have some potential renters interested if this all goes through. :) Praying that it does go smoothly!
Kari -- we should know by 4:00 tomorrow!!! I will let you know ASAP when we hear back...and yeah -- we cannot wait!!!
And april -- I'm not really sure about the prego jokes, but I'm afraid when it's real -- you guys will just call Ryan the little boy that cried wolf...

Thanks for the post. That's really good advice. I know exactly how you feel. At my bank people are telling me to try and advertise our mortgage deals and what not. Yeah, what? And when people come up and are like, "Can you tell me about your mortgage plans?" I'm like, "No speakeh no Engrish. Motgej? What is motgej?" That usually does the trick.
